Mountaineering Ireland’s annual Women With Altitude event is back and bigger than ever in 2025! Women from all over the country will be gathering at Greenhill YMCA, Donard Park, Newcastle, set in a beautiful 17 acre site on the slopes of Slieve Donard Mountain in the heart of the Mourne Mountains in County Down, for a weekend of adventure for all women interested in hillwalking and climbing. ‘Build Strength, Crush Limits’ is the theme of this year’s event, and there will be plenty of opportunity to do so over the course of a weekend packed with training activities, our guest speaker and chances to network with likeminded adventurous women! So tell all your female friends, and if your friends can’t make it – come anyway, you will not be on your own! Tickets will go on sale at 3pm on Saturday 8th March - International Women’s Day. Check out the programme of activities here.

For women who love the mountains.

Women with Altitude is a Mountaineering Ireland initiative to encourage women to take on greater challenges in mountaineering, be they personal challenges, technical or leadership challenges. Established in 2011, this initiative promotes and facilitate women’s participation by providing support with skills training and leadership development, inspirational role models and opportunities to network.
